Originally from Cleveland, OH, Carla LynDale Carter received a Bachelors degree from the University of Chicago in Cinema & Media Arts and her M.F.A. in Film & Media Arts from Temple University. Interested in ways that video and media can be used to reach youth as well as various communities, Carla has worked over the years with various youth organizations teaching film and video. She has also worked with Scribe Video Center in Philadelphia as a video facilitator for their Precious Places Oral History Project.

In the spring of 2005, Carla wrote and produced the short film "Black Butterflies", which received a PIFVA (Philadelphia Independent Film & Video Association) subsidy grant as well as an M.F.A. completion grant from Temple University, and is currently in post-production.
